sex discrimination legislation

sex discrimination legislation
In 1975, the Labour Government supplemented its equal pay legislation with the Sex Discrimination Act which among other things sought to outlaw discrimination in recruitment, training and fringe benefits. It also provides for protection against direct and indirect discrimination on the basis of sex or marital status. The Act established an Equal Opportunities Commission to monitor the workings of this statute and the equal pay legislation and to investigate allegations of discrimination.
